Pond Hotel GlasgowWhile the City of Glasgow - one of the most vibrant, welcoming, characterful, cosmopolitan cities in Western Europe, has its own massive wealth of tourist attractions and sightseeing delights to discover, it is also a terrific base for exploring the whole of west and central Scotland, from Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and the Campsies to the north of the city - to the Clyde Valley to the east and south east– and up and down the Clyde coast from Helensburgh to the Ayrshire coast and into Burns County and some of the best links golf courses in the world. The historic city of Stirling with its famous castle and Wallace Monument is less than 45 minutes drive – the Falkirk Wheel about the same distance – with the lure of Edinburgh (but only for a day!) being only an hour away.

There is so much to see, do and enjoy within a comfortable day trip that it is impossible to mention all the possibilities but we have picked out two very special and famous tourist destinations within easy reach - where you will be amazed at the scenic contrasts and the feeling that very quickly you are in another world.
